This week's story is an Indian folklore. Mel the monkey and the alligator.
Many stories for kids from that region teach morals that children can learn from. And this one is a very popular one.
Mel the monkey is the main character. The story begins with him. Other characters are Mr and Mrs Alligator.
Alligators are scaray animals who live in mainly in water. Let us listen to the story, as it is told us.
If you are parent, teach your children to always discuss with you before they accept any offer or gifts from anyone other than you or the other parent. People who deceive and harm children are often friendly at first like the alligator. They may offer better solutions to a problem or give them the most amazing gifts in the world. So, they can gain the confidence of the children. They now exploit these innocent souls.
To protect children we need to arm them with information. Have conversations with them from time to time discussing different situations and how they should react to gifts, touch and outright lies.
Do practise sessions, and see their responses or teach how to respond. It is worth the effort. I found this article helpful.
If you are a child, follow mummy and daddy's rules, even when it is difficult to do so. It could save your life. Do not follow anything other people tell you, including your peers, unless you talk to your mum and dad first. They love you and we do the best for you.
The setting for this week's story is the bank of the River Ganges. It is a very popular river and it is located in one of the most populous regions of the earth.
Can you guess the country the River Ganges is located? Tell us what you know about the people and the river. And send your answers to us, using the box provided below.
